Tutoring

I’m a Computer Science student at the University of Wollongong in Dubai. I took IGCSEs and A-Levels in Maths, Computer Science and Economics myself, so I know these syllabuses from the student’s side of the desk.

I’ve tutored since 2024, on Preply and privately. In 2026 I’ve had five regular students: one in Year 5 and four working towards their IGCSEs. With the IGCSE group we worked through the syllabus content and past papers, and they’ve scored well consistently.

The problem is rarely the arithmetic. Most students who feel stuck are stuck on one of two things: not seeing the structure of the question, or a shaky foundation two chapters back that’s making the current chapter feel harder than it is. I work backwards until we find where the gap actually is, then rebuild from there.

I make the shape of a problem visible before drilling procedure. Once a student can see what the question is really asking, the rest follows.

Lessons are structured but not rigid. I plan around exam boards, mostly Cambridge and Edexcel, and we work through past papers and targeted problem sets. I check understanding by getting students to explain things back to me. If a student is preparing for an exam we work to the syllabus; if they’re building foundations for later years we work to the concept.
